"Exercise in Murder"

WHAT SAID:

The pursuit of a gang of diamond thieves leads to a broken romance for Corrigan, and tragedy for Hooker after he accidentally shoots a 9-year-old boy.

SYNOPSIS:

Hooker and Romano respond to a robbery in progress at the Diamond Exchange. In pursuing the suspects, Warfield, Stram and Curtis, they follow them to a construction site. Hooker searches the area for the suspects when he spots a shadow of a person who appears to be holding a gun. Hooker fires just as a helicopter lifts off spraying the area with bullets. When the bullets cease, Romano approaches Hooker holding a child, the victim of his gunshot. Hooker takes the child, Paco, to the hospital, where he is told he will recover. Across town, Corrigan has gone to visit his girlfriend Jill who seems upset even though she says nothing is wrong. Later, when Jill arrives home in the evening from taping her aerobic exercise show, Curtis is waiting for her with the threat that if she doesn't follow his orders, he will blackmail her. While Hooker and Corrigan continue to track down leads, they are called to a homicide and discover Jill's body. The investigation then leads to Jill's studio where Stacy goes undercover as an instructor. She soon finds evidence that will help in their investigation, but Curtis, the cameraman on the show, discovers that Stacy is a cop and takes her hostage. Then, while Hooker, Romano and Corrigan are searching through Ramsey's apartment, they find a porno tape of Jill and they realize she was involved in the diamond heist and was being blackmailed. Suddenly remembering Stacy at the studio, they rush back only to discover her gone. They find evidence she was taken to the airport and arrive in time to capture her abductors.
