"The Hostages"

WHAT SAID:

Fran Hooker and Stacy are taken hostage in a hospital by robbers who are trying to break out their critically wounded cohort.

SYNOPSIS:

As Hooker and Romano arrive at the scene of a robbery, the four thieves run out the door. When they spot the approaching police car, the group splits up and Hooker chases three of them. After an exchange of fire, Hooker wounds the leader, Henry Baker, while his two sons escape. Romano apprehends young Carol Ann Baker. Later, while Stacy is visiting Valerie, a seriously ill friend in the hospital, and Fran Hooker, a nurse, she hears gun shots and opens the door and finds Sammy and Freddy Baker standing over a dead police guard. They had planned to free their father, Henry. They spot Stacy and burst into Valerie's room, taking her and eight other patients hostage. Their demands include $100,000 ransom and the release of their step-sister, Carol Ann. Meanwhile, Valerie's mother makes an appeal asking the Bakers to let her daughter go. They agree, but only if Hooker will come to get her. When Hooker goes to get Valerie, the S.W.A.T. team uses him as a decoy, but the Bakers spot them and open fire in the corridor. Although Hooker gets trapped, he's able to negotiate with Henry to get Valerie off the floor. He also convinces Carol Ann to go in and talk to her brothers. While she goes up in the elevator, Hooker and Romano ride the top of it and climb through the ceiling of the hospital, dropping down in front of Sammy and Freddy. After an exchange of gunfire and a chase down the halls, the Bakers are captured and Valerie pulls through her delicate surgery.
